Hybrid MOT FAQs

Is a hybrid MOT different from a standard MOT?

No. There is no separate DVSA MOT test for hybrid vehicles.

A hybrid follows the same applicable MOT testing standards as a conventional vehicle, with additional care required when inspecting and working around high-voltage components.

What is checked during a hybrid MOT?

A hybrid MOT includes the standard applicable safety checks covering areas such as tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, lights and other key components.

Additional hybrid considerations may include:

  • Visible high-voltage components
  • Hybrid system warning lights
  • Electrical cabling where accessible
Does a hybrid MOT cost more?

No separate MOT fee applies simply because a vehicle is hybrid.

The maximum DVSA MOT fee remains the same as for an equivalent conventional Class 4 vehicle of £54.85.

Can a hybrid system warning light cause an MOT failure?

Relevant dashboard warning lights are checked where they form part of the MOT inspection.

If a warning light indicates a fault with a system covered by the MOT test, it may affect the result.

Whether you need an MOT, routine servicing or replacement tyres, we can help keep your EV or hybrid performing at its best.
