Hybrid Servicing

Hybrid Vehicle Servicing at D&G Autocare

Unlike a fully electric vehicle, a hybrid still has a petrol engine, so regular servicing needs to cover both traditional engine maintenance and hybrid-specific systems.

At D&G Autocare, our technicians can carry out the checks and maintenance required to help keep your hybrid performing safely and efficiently.

Hybrid Servicing FAQs

How is hybrid servicing different from petrol car servicing?

A hybrid still requires many of the same servicing operations as a petrol vehicle, including engine oil and filter replacement.

The difference is that additional checks are also carried out on the hybrid battery, charging system and electrical components.

There is no specific business certification required under Scots law simply for an independent garage to work on hybrid vehicles.

However, recognised technician training, competence and safe working procedures are important when carrying out work involving high-voltage hybrid systems.

What is included in a hybrid service?

A typical hybrid service can include:

  • Engine oil and filter replacement
  • Air and fuel filter checks where applicable
  • Brake inspection
  • Battery and charging system checks
  • Cooling system inspection
  • Hybrid electrical system inspection
  • Diagnostic scan of vehicle control modules

The exact service requirements will depend on the make, model and manufacturer schedule.

Do hybrid cars need regular servicing?

Yes. Hybrid vehicles still have a petrol engine and conventional mechanical components that require routine maintenance, alongside the vehicle’s electrical and battery systems.

Following the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule helps keep both systems maintained correctly.

Are hybrid vehicles checked with diagnostic equipment?

Yes. A diagnostic scan of the vehicle’s control modules can form part of a hybrid service and can help identify faults within the hybrid and electrical systems.

Is hybrid servicing more expensive than petrol servicing?

Hybrid servicing is typically similar in price to, or slightly more expensive than, servicing an equivalent petrol vehicle because additional hybrid system checks may be required.

The exact cost will depend on the vehicle and the level of servicing required.

Whether you need an MOT, routine servicing or replacement tyres, we can help keep your EV or hybrid performing at its best.
